Yeah Finally First Day at B-School: A Dream Come True!

Let's write my side story.

Beginning of an exciting new chapter in my life as I step into the halls of SIBM, starting my MBA journey. Joining a legacy of one of the top B-schools has always been my dream, and it's finally happening! I'm looking forward to this two-year journey, eager to learn and grow.

The journey to get here wasn't easy. Shifting from teaching to business administration, making the decision to study for an MBA, taking coaching, and even taking a gap year for entrance prep were all challenging steps. Convincing my parents and mastering quant as a biology student was tough, but every hurdle made me stronger.

Walking into the auditorium for the induction program was an emotional moment.

It felt like going from "one day" to "day one" of a dream realized. Despite my initial skepticism about joining the Noida campus, day one has already filled me with enthusiasm, thanks to the incredible SIBM Noida team.

First day at SIBM Noida for our 10-day orientation program, and I couldn't wait to share about it. The SIBM Noida team is putting in endless effort to ensure we, the second MBA batch, receive top-notch quality in everything. For anyone anxious about their decision to join, rest assured – we're in good hands.

On the second day of our orientation at SIBM Noida, we attended an insightful workshop named "IGNITE" by Mr. Sukhvinder Singh, Vice President- Animations & Interactive at Extramarks Education India Pvt. Ltd. This session was crucial for us upcoming managers.

Key learnings from the session:

1. Managing Yourself: Emphasis on the "I" - how to manage yourself before managing others.

2. The Learning Process: The route of LEARNING >> Understanding >> Absorbing >> Implications.

3. How the Mind Works: Insights into cognitive processes.

4. 80-20 Rule: How it applies to various aspects of management and personal efficiency.

5. Attitude Over Knowledge and Skill: Attitude can either elevate or diminish your growth. A conscious, settled way of thinking is vital.

6. Concept of "Let Go": Learning to let go and overlap positive thoughts over negative ones.

7. Thought Management: How to filter thoughts, activate positive thinking, manifest goals, and invest time wisely.

Workshop on Personal Branding at SIBM Noida: On the third day of our induction program at SIBM Noida, we had an incredibly insightful workshop on personal branding, one of the most trending topics today. As someone who loves posting blogs on LinkedIn and creating vlogs on YouTube and Instagram, this workshop was especially interesting and valuable to me.

Mr. Amitabh Verma, Founder of AMP Digital Solutions Pvt Ltd, emphasized the power of personal branding, explaining how an individual can have the influence of a large media house. Personal branding is crucial for distinguishing oneself in today's digital era.

Mr. Verma illustrated his points with great examples, like comparing an unlabelled water bottle to a branded one, showing the impact of branding. He shared that 34% of people search on Google before meeting someone new, highlighting the importance of a strong online presence.

Key takeaways included the importance of consistency and interest in content creation, identifying target audiences, setting specific goals, and seeking feedback for self-assessment. We even participated in a live exercise to create our own brand statements, which was both fun and enlightening.

As part of our orientation program, we had the pleasure of attending an incredible workshop on Sales Skills by Mr Priyaranjan Kumar , the founder of Ground Up Consulting. It was an amazing experience filled with lots of interaction and insightful lessons!

Mr. Kumar, who also authored the book "Tales of Sales," shared some key takeaways:

1. Ego in Check- The first rule of sales.

2. 36 Months- The critical threshold for any startup.

3. Sales is About People- The third rule of sales.

He emphasized the importance of adapting our selling style and startup ideas to match consumer needs.
Mr. Kumar advised against seeking funding at the very start of entrepreneurship. He highlighted the pivotal role of salespeople in a business, describing sales as the heart of the company since it drives revenue.

The workshop also shed light on the significance of relationships and storytelling in sales. Mr. Kumar illustrated how sales is intertwined with every aspect of life and underscored the importance of emotional skills in sales.

Lastly, we learned valuable tips on becoming a good storyteller, a skill essential for successful sales.

Ready to embrace challenges and opportunities. Here’s to growth and learning! These sessions were a reminder that personal growth and mindset are key to effective management.
