SIBM Noida Conducts 3-Day Competency Development Program on Financial Accounting & Reporting

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Noida, successfully conducted a 3-Day Competency Development Program on “Financial Accounting & Reporting” from 11th to 13th August 2026 in online mode.

The programme was designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of financial accounting, corporate reporting and financial analysis, with a strong emphasis on practical application. The competency-oriented sessions combined conceptual discussions, practical examples, analytical exercises and case-based learning.


The three-day programme followed a structured learning journey

Day 1 – Accounting Fundamentals:
Participants explored accounting principles and conventions, the accounting cycle, journal entries, ledger posting, preparation of financial statements, disclosure requirements, and an introduction to Ind AS and IFRS.

Day 2 – Financial Reporting & Analysis:
The sessions focused on ratio analysis, cash flow analysis, common-size and comparative statement analysis, trend analysis, and interpretation of financial information from a stakeholder perspective.

Day 3 – Corporate Applications & Digital Tools:
Participants engaged with annual report analysis of listed companies, an accounting fraud case discussion, Excel-based accounting exercises and an introductory exposure to Tally.

The programme enabled participants to strengthen their ability to interpret financial statements, analyse financial information, understand reporting frameworks, examine annual reports and identify potential accounting irregularities, while developing practical proficiency in Excel.

The programme was conducted under the academic guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Ahuja, Director, SIBM Noida, with Dr Vikas Garg, Faculty, SIBM Noida, serving as Faculty Coordinator. The initiative was supported by the Finance Club, SIBM Noida, contributing to programme coordination and participant engagement.
